NOVEMBER IS ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH
Join us throughout the 2022 National Adoption Month as we explore TRAUMA, INCLUSION AND SCHOOL.
Given early life experiences of repeated trauma, not surprisingly many adopted children struggle with complex developmental trauma.
Despite the best of intentions, school can be a huge source of stress and can be triggering for children who have had very difficult early lives.
Advocating for and supporting children through their school years is not for the faint of heart!
There is hope however!
As awareness and understanding of complex trauma and child brain development has grown a movement of creating
"Trauma-Informed Schools" is taking hold.
We are pleased to share many of the concepts related to "Trauma Informed Schools" throughout the month.
Through the voices of adoptive parents, youth and experts we will be hosting webinars, panels and posting resources to help parents and educators build their understanding.
The highlight of the month:
Classroom 180: Helping Students Heal at School Webinar on Nov. 9 with Heather T. Forbes, a world renowned expert on Trauma Informed Schools
